Christmas is one of those times of the year when decorating takes center stage, and it’s always such a joy to bring a little holiday magic into the home. For me, the kitchen is the heart of the house, and this year, I had more fun than ever getting it ready for the season. Let me share how I transformed my farmhouse kitchen into a festive wonderland!

As I set out to decorate for Christmas this year, I made a conscious decision to return to my roots. For the past few years, I had been trying to embrace more modern and trendy Christmas décor, and while those looks were beautiful, they never really felt like “me.” In fact, I felt like I had to abandon my beloved vintage decorations to keep up with the times. I even thought that if I continued using my older Christmas treasures, I might be seen as outdated.

However, this year, I decided to change all of that. It was time to embrace the decorations that had filled my home with joy in the past. I brought back the old, familiar items that hold such sentimental value, like my vintage Fitz and Floyd Santa cookie jar and the adorable Santa chalkboard holder.

I also set up a cozy little drink bar in the kitchen, complete with coffee pods and hot chocolate for the Keurig machine. It’s the perfect spot to sip on a warm drink while getting into the holiday spirit. I added oversized tree ornaments and traditional greenery to bring back the familiar comfort of Christmas. I even made space for our Christmas village, which I had previously tucked away because I feared it looked old-fashioned. But this year, I embraced it all and found joy in rediscovering those treasured pieces.

Last year, I went with a neutral color palette, thinking it was the trendy choice. While I loved how it looked, I realized it didn’t capture the true essence of Christmas for our family. The red and green, the timeless symbols—those are the elements that make the holiday special for us. This year, I was determined to bring back that warmth and excitement by adding those pops of red and green throughout the kitchen.

One of the best moments came when my partner walked through the house and spontaneously shared how much he loved the decorations. He said, “I don’t want Christmas to end. I love how our home looks this year.” Those words meant the world to me because they reflected the heart of Christmas. It’s not about the decorations, the gifts, or anything material—it’s about the love and joy shared with loved ones, and the spirit of the season that fills our hearts.

So this year, my farmhouse kitchen is a reflection of all the things that make Christmas meaningful to us. The vintage items, the traditional colors, and the familiar warmth have brought back the magic of the season. It truly feels like home again.

Wishing you and yours the Merriest of Christmases, filled with love and joy. May your holiday season be as warm and welcoming as a cozy kitchen filled with festive cheer.
